Description
Joey had a dream to race his motorbike in the Dakar Rally. A race considered to be the toughest off-road race in the world. His dream was shattered, when in 2007 during a local race, he sustained serious injuries, crushing his spinal cord and leaving him paralysed from just below his chest. Doctors said he only had a 10% chance of walking again.
Joey shares his story of grit and determination to not only walk again, but to achieve his dream and race the Dakar Rally in 2017. A journey that will make you laugh, cry and most importantly, inspire you to chase your own dreams, no matter the odds.
Lyndon and Joey met in Dakar 2017 and even shared a few kilometres together. Since then they have ridden together on Races to Places and become great friends.
“This book had me laughing and crying, a story of a life changing experience and everything that went along with it. A hard working, determined and strong willed individual embracing the situation and overcoming challenges and set-backs to realise his dream. Joey has a family that people aspire to; fun, loving and supportive and I was lucky enough to spend some time with them during my world travels on Races to Places; an unforgettable time, something I will always remember and be thankful for” – Lyndon Poskitt
